Who Commentates the Commentators?: An ABC/ESPN Drinking Game
Take one sip:
... if the commentators latch on to one anecdotal statistic and repeat it again and again
... if the commentators dispense some wise advice, such as, "What they really need to do is get the ball in the box."
... if the commentators explain some aspect of the rules of the game, such as how many yellow cards equal a red, and what this means, or what a foul is
... if the commentators mis-pronounce a player's name, or get it entirely wrong
Take a mouthful:
... if the commentators discuss or promote the US team when the US team are not actually playing
... if the commentators use the wrong tense when describing a play
... if a commentator "feels that a goal is coming up soon, from either team"
Chug:
... if the network blocks a third of the screen with an ad for a later game, or for a sponsor
... if the network stops showing the game for an ad or an interview
Buy the whole bar a round:
... if the commentators actually shut up for a full five seconds.
